FC Barcelona will once again turn one of football’s biggest events into a cross-cultural moment as FC Barcelona will wear a special edition jersey featuring Olivia Rodrigo’s logo in the El Clasico against Real Madrid on May 10 as part of the club’s ongoing partnership with Spotify. The move continues a series of high-profile collaborations that have turned Barcelona’s front-of-shirt sponsorship into a rotating platform for global music acts, with Rodrygo becoming the latest name to appear on the shirt of one of world football’s most watched competitions.

Girl group debut, private concert and release schedule

The design will begin before the men’s El Clásico, with the Barcelona women’s team wearing Rodrygo’s logo on May 6 when they take on Levante UD in Liga F, marking the first time the design will be unveiled on the pitch. Rodrygo is also scheduled to play a private concert in Barcelona on May 8, an event described as an event exclusive to her most loyal fans, further linking the event to the city in the days leading up to El Clasico. The collaboration comes at an important time in her music cycle, as the Grammy-winning artist recently released her single “Drop Dead” and is preparing to release her third studio album, You seem to feel sorry for a girl who is so in lovescheduled to take place on June 12.With over 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify and nine songs on the platform’s Billions Club – a selection of tracks that have each been played over a billion times – Rodrygo’s addition reflects both her influence and her times, bringing together a global football audience with one of the most streamed artists of her generation.

Rodrygo’s reaction to Barcelona partnership

Rodrygo described the experience of seeing her logo on Barcelona’s jersey as difficult to accept, while highlighting the personal significance of the collaboration and upcoming performances in the city.“See or [Olivia Rodrigo] On the FC Barcelona jersey in El Clasico, I didn’t even know what to do with it,” she said.“It will be so fun to see this jersey come to life and create a full collection with Spotify and Barcelona. Most importantly, it will be very special to perform in a city like Barcelona for fans who have been listening since day one. That means everything to me. I can’t wait to meet them.”

Player Wear Editions, Pricing and Limited Release

The kit is also released with a range of limited edition merchandise directly related to the game. A total of 1,899 standard limited-edition match shirts will be released, plus 22 more exclusive match-quality shirts signed by men’s El Clasico and Football League starters. An additional 11 units signed by Rodrigo himself will also be released, with the most exclusive signed version priced at €2,999.99 (approximately $35,000 USD) The wider range is not limited to jerseys but also includes hats, sweatshirts, scarves and mugs, forming part of a wider retail offering built around the collaboration.

Spotify – Continuation of the Barcelona Artist Series

Since Barcelona and Spotify signed a sponsorship deal in March 2022, the club has repeatedly replaced the standard sponsor logo with an artist brand in selected matches, especially El Clasicos. Previous editions have featured the likes of Drake, Coldplay, Karol G, The Rolling Stones, Rosalía and Travis Scott, with Ed Sheeran also involved in the wider campaign. The concept was first launched in October 2022, when Barcelona replaced sponsor branding with Drake’s logo, marking the first time in the club’s history that a music artist appeared on the front of the jersey. Rodrigo now becomes the youngest artist in the series, adding another layer to a campaign that has always combined football visibility with music promotion in the streaming era.

Championship context adds weight to El Clasico

The game itself has serious competitive implications, with Barcelona nine points ahead of Real Madrid with five games remaining in La Liga. A victory would bring the Catalan side one step closer to the title, making El Clasico not just a commercial showcase but a defining moment of the domestic season.
