Austin, Cincinnati and Washington: Shootings, stabbings linked to Iranian ‘terror plot’? what we know

A number of violent incidents broke out in the United States on Sunday since Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a U.S.-Israeli airstrike on Saturday.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, around 2 a.m. local time, at a bar in Buford. austinTexas. A gunman opened fire from outside a bar, killing at least three people and injuring 11 others. Then, another mass shooting occurred at a live music venue in Riverside. cincinnatiresulting in nine injuries. Then, late Sunday afternoon, there was a stabbing and shooting near Interstate 495. washington d.c., Multiple injuries were reported.

This sparked curiosity about whether they were linked to attacks on Iran as a possible form of retaliation. The FBI’s Austin field office confirmed they are investigating the incident at a Buford bar as a potential terrorism incident, with the gunman suspected of having “terrorist ties” under investigation.

However, there is no indication that two other incidents in Cincinnati and Washington, D.C., were related to potential terrorism. It has also not been confirmed whether the suspects in either case were motivated by backlash against the Iranian attack.

As of now, no suspects have been identified in the incidents on the Beltway near Cincinnati and Washington, D.C. More information about their motives will become clear once authorities release information.

What the FBI has to say about Austin shooter’s ‘terrorism’ links

The FBI has confirmed that it is investigating Sunday’s incident on West Sixth Street in Austin as a potential act of terrorism. The agency said its Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the shooting.

The agency said evidence response and digital forensics teams were deployed to the scene of the shooting, along with a number of other specialized response teams. However, the FBI field agent in charge in Austin said it was “too early” to conclude the suspect had ties to terrorism.

“Obviously, it’s too early to determine an exact motive,” said Special Agent Alex Dolan. “But there are indications that the subject and his vehicle indicate potential links to terrorism.”
