Ashlee Jenae dies: Family expresses concern over ‘suspicious’ circumstances; ‘She and Joe McCann were on a dream trip’

In posts shared on Instagram, Jenae documented highlights from the vacation, including a video of her proposal during a hunt. Her last post, posted on April 5, showed her feeding a giraffe and using rose petals to spell out “HBD Ashlee.” “Chapter 31, I’m exactly where I need to be,” she wrote.

“Ashly Robinson was in Zanzibar, Africa, for a birthday celebration on what should have been one of the happiest trips of her life. Ashly’s birthday was April 5th, and she just turned 31. Surrounded by beauty, love, and wildlife, she got engaged on the trip, an unforgettable moment that marked the beginning of a future she was so excited to build.

She and her fiancé Joe McCann stayed in a luxurious villa in Zuri Zanzibar, continuing what we think is her dream trip. But within just a few days, that dream turned into our family’s worst nightmare. Ashley was found unconscious in her villa and taken to a local hospital where she was confirmed dead hours later.

There is nothing real about this loss. One moment she’s celebrating love and life in true Ashly fashion, and the next she’s gone. The suddenness of the events, the unanswered questions, and the distance from home made this tragedy even more overwhelming for our family. The circumstances surrounding Ashley’s suspicious death are currently under active investigation. Although we have many questions, we trust officials in Zanzibar and work closely with them to seek clarification and answers.

Ashley was much loved. She is full of energy, full of life, and has a lot of future ahead of her. Our family is completely devastated and we are grateful for the prayers and sympathy we have received as we work through this unimaginable loss.
