Iran has issued a “tit for tat” warning to Donald Trump, saying the United States will face a harsher response if it attacks its infrastructure, as Tehran hardens its stance on ending the war.Former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Mohsen Rezai said the war will continue until “all losses suffered by Iran are compensated and sanctions against Iran are lifted. In addition, we want international guarantees that the United States will not interfere in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic – a decision of our people, the supreme leader and the armed forces,” Fars news agency reported.Rezai said that if Trump attacks Iran’s infrastructure, “it will no longer be an eye for an eye, but an eye for a hand, an eye for a foot,” and warned that “the United States will be paralyzed.”Iran’s negotiating stance has hardened amid the ongoing conflict, with senior Tehran officials saying any progress in peace talks would depend on full concessions from Washington.Central to Tehran’s position is a steadfast insistence that any negotiations must first end the war while ensuring no future military action, compensation for wartime losses and formal control of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.Trump said on Monday that a “major agreement” had been reached after weekend discussions as the two sides continued to negotiate amid the ongoing conflict. The US president also said the two sides were discussing a 15-point framework to end the conflict, adding that if talks did not go well, “we will continue to bombard our young minds.”Despite Trump’s claims that Washington has had “very, very strong talks” with Tehran more than three weeks after the conflict, Iranian officials have publicly denied any direct contact.
