Alsip Fire: Brush fire breaks out on S Kostner Avenue; horrific visuals emerge

“Alsip Fire – Brush Box Alert for a large brush fire near Kostner Ave and 119th Pl,” alarm exist Facebook read. Another shared a map showing where the fire started.

The Alsip Fire Department has not disclosed the cause of the fire or issued an official statement on the matter. However, they also shared warnings about fires. In a subsequent post, they shared a video in which a plume of thick black smoke can be seen rising into the sky, with a police car in the foreground.

Alsip is a village in Illinois where many people claim to have heard a huge explosion or roar. One person asked where the fire was, indicating that many people didn’t quite understand what was going on. Many people shared horrific images of the fire there.

One video showed vast swaths of grassland on fire. Another person shared photos of the fire.

Many others have different views on the fire. In one instance, smoke could be seen next to a building. “It looks like it’s on a trail behind the prairie,” the person noted.

One person expressed fear and asked, “Does anyone know about the fire? I live behind the prairie and don’t know if we should leave.” As of now, no evacuation orders have been issued.

Another person provided an update on the fire, saying “A large area from Cicero to the school on 119th Street. Spreading. Near 116th Street and Cicero behind the banquet hall.” More video of the fire was also posted online.

Another video showed the extent of the fire, with a person praying for the safety of others.

While the cause of the fire is unknown, many people claim to have heard a loud roar before the fire was reported. One person commented: “My sister told me she heard a loud bang and felt the ground shake.”

Another added: “I thought I heard something! My internet went out after the boom.” Another said: “Is that the big bang? Then I lost power and I was on 127th Street and Central Road.” Despite claims, it’s unclear if said boom was related to the fire.
