New Delhi: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, who died in a plane crash in Baramati last month.A delegation of senior party leaders, including his wife Sunetra Pawar, NCP national working president and MP Praful Patel, state president and MP Sunil Tatkare, Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif and youth leader Parth Pawar addressed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Fadnavis submitted a memorandum seeking an investigation led by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
On the morning of January 28, Ajit Pawar died along with four others when their plane crashed while trying to land at Baramati Airport in Pune district. The incident subsequently sparked political controversy, with the NCP (SP), Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Indian National Congress raising questions and alleging possible “murder”.Earlier in the day, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule said people were increasingly uneasy about the circumstances of Pawar’s death and the civil aviation ministry should clarify the facts.“Ajit Pawar is Rohit Pawar’s uncle. Rohit Pawar and several others are worried and upset about the matter. Amol Mitkari has also raised questions. Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress party are fully supporting us. They said the issue should be discussed in Parliament and even met the Speaker. There are many questions in the hearts of the people and they deserve answers,” Sule said.NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar criticized the speed of investigation, saying nearly 20 days after the crash, there was hardly any visible progress.“Twenty days have passed since the unfortunate accident, and there has been no progress in the investigation. Is the delay just to allow VSR to destroy evidence, or is the company protected? This question has appeared in the minds of ordinary people. Today’s news that the black box has been destroyed makes the possibility I predicted five days ago seem to have become a reality.” No matter what, we won’t stop until we find out whether Dada’s case was an accident or a murder! ” he said.
