New Delhi: Call it the impact of artificial intelligence. As global IT leaders French President Emmanuel Macron and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva gather for the Artificial Intelligence Summit, hotel room prices have soared to Rs 5.5 lakh per night, with suites in the capital’s top hotels going for as high as Rs 30 lakh.NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic’s Dario Amodei and Google CEO Sundar Pichai will also be in the capital. So far, 150,000 people have signed up to participate in the 2026 Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit held at the Bharat Mandapam as the main venue, including more than 10,000 foreign representatives. On the two main dates of February 19 and 20, the last few rooms were priced as high as Rs 5.5 lakh per night. Hotels such as Maurya, Taj Mahal & Palace, Leela, Oberoi, Imperial and JW Marriott are all sold out. Several hotels in Aerocity cost over Rs 50,000 per night.Advice issued when exam dates conflict with summitFor the organizers, finding hotel rooms is not a big problem as they reserve 250-300 rooms months in advance. They are dealing with another challenge as the event coincides with the board exams starting on February 17. The main concerns are February 19 (scheduling for engineering drawing and cost accounting exams for Class XII) and February 20 (scheduling for Physics exam for Class XII students).Officials said organizers are reaching out to students who live around major venues or have centers nearby to raise awareness. Advisory opinions will also be published on other days.Security will be tight in central Delhi as the prime ministers of the Netherlands, Finland and Estonia are also in town, as well as British Deputy Prime Minister David Lamy and the prime ministers of Sweden and South Korea. The Information Technology Department, which is hosting the summit, is also ensuring that venue arrangements go beyond the availability of food and water and focus on delegate comfort and sustainability.
