Jammu: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of J&K Police on Wednesday conducted searches at the properties of Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary’s brother Vijay Choudhary, a serving police inspector in Ladakh, in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets (DA) case.The deputy minister called the raids an attempt to intimidate his family and defame him, and said they would be fought through legal means.An official spokesperson said the ACB team conducted searches at multiple locations, including Vijay’s residences in Santoh Vihar (Karuchak) and Nonier (Noshera) in Jammu’s Rajouri district, business premises in Tutdikwe, Bahar Towers (Jammu) and other locations.Detectives seized incriminating documents during the search and further inquiries are ongoing, the spokesman said.Disclosing details, an ACB spokesperson said the documents revealed that Vijay had amassed assets worth crores of rupees that were highly disproportionate to his known sources of income. He allegedly purchased more than 10 properties, including houses, shops and land, in the names of family members, relatives and others.The spokesperson said that prima facie evidence under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, alleged criminal misconduct against Vijay Choudhary and an FIR has been lodged.The deputy prime minister called the raid “politically motivated” and “retaliatory.” He told media persons that his family had nothing to hide and they would fight it through legal means. While insisting that his brother is innocent, he said Vijay should be punished if he is found to be at fault.
