Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head put together a record-breaking partnership in the IPL after a stellar performance against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.Earlier, Ryan Rickelton’s 123 off 62 balls coupled with Will Jacks’ (46) opening performance took Mumbai Indians to 243/5 in 20 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. After a cautious start against Pat Cummins, the duo accelerated quickly to take MI to 78/0 in the powerplay.Rickton dominated the innings, hitting a quick fifty and then hitting a 44-ball century, the fastest ever for Mumbai Indians. He maintained the momentum despite falling wickets at the other end, with Hardik Pandya (31 off 15) providing the final support. A superb performance in the death overs ensured MI crossed the 240 mark, setting a tough target for SRH.Chasing a mammoth total, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head struck a mad partnership to score another century, the sixth of their career. Together they now have the record for most opening centuries in IPL history.The partnership finally broke down when Abhishek Sharma departed after scoring 129 runs for the first wicket with a score of 45 runs.
