Google Officially launching ‘Ask Maps’, a conversational AI experience powered by Gemini in India. The company claims that this new feature “answers complex, real-world questions that maps couldn’t answer before.”
1. Open Google Maps on your phone or tablet
2. Click Ask (located below the search bar)
3. Ask a question by typing or tapping the microphone
4. Click Send and the results will be displayed
Users can find conversation history under “Ask Maps” and there is an option to delete conversations easily.
If you’re just getting started with Ask Maps and aren’t sure what to ask, Google offers six tips to get you started. The examples cover a range of real-world situations, from finding the perfect date night spot to generating custom routes with specific stops along the way.
“One of Ask Maps’ superpowers is finding the perfect vibe while keeping everyday practicality in mind. For your next date, don’t just search for ‘restaurants near me’ but ask Maps to find the midpoint between home and work, filter out tourist traps, and string together a multi-stop itinerary,” Google Maps tweeted.

The shared tip reads: “I’m going out on a date tonight and need some ideas – nothing overly dramatic. It should be somewhere between home and work, have a romantic vibe, great food, and have a cool lounge nearby.”
“I’m going on a date alone. Where’s a good bar within a mile that’s not too busy? No trivia or live music, dark, with booths, good for reading.”
“I want to take a photo new york city skyline [insert place of your choice]. Depending on where the sun is now, a rooftop or park would be suggested to put the sun behind the camera without blinding me. “
“I want to walk/run from the French Quarter to low battery [insert route you want to explore] Tonight. Create a route that hits the most “scenic” spots. Time it so that I arrive at sunset with low battery. “
“Some inspiration for my three-day trip to Boston [insert your place of travel]. Recommended activities include historical and cultural exploration, authentic hidden gems, and shopping. “
“Find me a place for dinner that’s less than 20 minutes from home, has good reviews, has a table for 4 tonight, and has an outdoor patio.”
